Product recall check
Check whether a product the user owns has been recalled, and what the remedy is.
Ask for it like this
- “Has my car seat been recalled?”
- “Is there a recall on this product?”
- “Check my car for recalls”
What your assistant does
- Get the product's brand, model, and model or lot number. For vehicles, ask the user to look up their own VIN — they can enter it themselves.
- Search the official recall databases: CPSC (saferproducts.gov) for consumer products, NHTSA for vehicles and car seats, FDA for food and medicine, or the equivalent agency outside the US.
- Report any matching recall, the hazard, and the remedy: repair, replacement, or refund, and how to claim it.
- If nothing matches, say so and suggest registering the product with the manufacturer to get future notices.
