Outmarket Valuation Tops Rivals as Insurance AI Race Heats Up
A big round in a crowded lane
Outmarket has closed a $34.5 million Series B at a $335 million valuation, a quick follow-on raise for a company building what investors describe as an "AI operating layer" for insurance brokers and agencies. 5 The headline number is impressive on its own. It looks even sharper when placed beside the two companies most often named as Outmarket's direct competitors, FurtherAI and Fulcrum. 5
By publicly reported figures, neither rival has yet raised as much in total as Outmarket just took in with a single round. That gap matters, though perhaps not in the way a simple scoreboard suggests.
How the rivals are funded
FurtherAI announced a $25 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz in October 2025. 1 The round closed roughly six months after a $5 million seed, bringing the company's total funding to about $30 million. 2 Nexus Venture Partners and Y Combinator also participated. 2 FurtherAI says it helps process billions of dollars in premiums each year. It also says its tools compress hours of underwriting, claims and compliance work into minutes. 1 One account highlights its practice of embedding engineers with customers to automate those workflows. 2
Fulcrum followed in January 2026 with $25 million in combined seed and Series A funding led by CRV. 3 South Park Commons, Foundation Capital and a group of insurance and technology angels joined the round. 34 The company layers multiple large language models with its own retrieval, reasoning and validation pipelines. It plugs directly into brokers' agency management systems and email to reconcile data across policies, proposals and certificates. 3 Fulcrum says it is already used by many of the top U.S. brokerages. 4 Its pitch takes aim at the offshore business process outsourcing that brokers have long relied on for policy checking and certificate issuance. It argues that what began as a cost saving has turned into a source of handoffs, delays and errors. 4
Add those figures up and the contrast is clear. FurtherAI sits at roughly $30 million raised, and Fulcrum at $25 million. Outmarket's Series B alone exceeds either total. Outmarket's earlier funding history and cumulative total are not detailed here, so the cleanest comparison is round-to-total rather than total-to-total.
Context: everyone is raising big
None of this makes the rivals undercapitalized by normal insurtech standards. The median early-stage insurtech deal in 2025 was around $3 million, and most Series A rounds in the sector fell between $5 million and $13 million. 2 By that yardstick, both FurtherAI and Fulcrum raised outsized rounds. FurtherAI's was described as one of the largest Series As ever in insurance AI. 12
What has changed is the ceiling. In Q1 2026, AI-focused companies captured 95.2% of all insurtech venture dollars, up from 77.9% in the prior quarter. 5 Other insurance-AI companies have closed even larger rounds this year:
- Corgi raised $108 million. 5
- Liberate raised $50 million at a $300 million valuation. 5
- Pace Insurance raised $46 million. 5
- Shepherd raised $42 million. 5
The venture appetite extends beyond software, too. Carriers such as Openly and Steadily have also drawn fresh backing alongside workflow players like FurtherAI. 3
Not quite the same race
The sources do not fully agree on how cleanly these three companies overlap. Outmarket's competitive framing groups Fulcrum and FurtherAI together as builders of the same broker-facing layer. 5 Fulcrum clearly fits that description, since it sells explicitly to brokerages. 34 FurtherAI, however, presents itself primarily as a tool for insurers, focused on underwriting, claims and compliance. 1 The overlap is real, because document-heavy back-office work looks similar on either side of the distribution chain. Still, "direct rival" may overstate how often all three meet in the same sales cycle today.
The reading
Outmarket's valuation is less a standalone breakout than a marker of how expensive this category has become. 5 A larger war chest buys runway, hiring and the patience to win slow-moving enterprise deals. Those are real advantages in an industry known for glacial procurement.
Capital is not the same as traction, though. FurtherAI points to billions in processed premiums. 1 Fulcrum claims a foothold inside many of the largest U.S. brokerages. 4 Both have raised quickly from top-tier firms, so they could likely return to market if needed.
The more plausible near-term outcome is not that thinner-funded rivals get squeezed out. Instead, the funding gap probably narrows as each company raises again on the strength of its customer list. The real test for Outmarket is whether a $335 million valuation can be grown into before its competitors close that gap.
