Used car deal check
Check a used car listing in one pass: price against the market, open recalls, reliability, and what to inspect before buying.
Ask for it like this
- “Is this used car a good deal?”
- “Check this car's VIN for recalls”
- “What should I pay for a 2019 Honda CR-V?”
What your assistant does
- Get the year, make, model, trim, mileage, ZIP code, asking price, and the VIN if the listing shows one.
- Search market value for that trim and mileage on two pricing guides (Kelley Blue Book, Edmunds) and against similar local listings, so the price can be called low, fair, or high.
- Check open recalls by VIN on NHTSA's recall lookup (nhtsa.gov/recalls), and search known problems and reliability ratings for that model year.
- Point the user to a vehicle-history report and a pre-purchase inspection by an independent mechanic, and list what to look at on this model.
- Give a verdict with a fair offer range and the points that justify it, and flag scam signs such as a seller who wants a deposit before a viewing.
