# Hire a home-service pro

Find and vet a plumber, electrician, cleaner, or handyman, compare quotes, and schedule the visit.

## When to use

- "Find a plumber near me"
- "How much should a water heater replacement cost?"
- "Book a house cleaner"

## Steps

1. Get the job, the urgency, the area, and the budget.
2. Search for typical local costs for the job so the user can recognize a fair quote.
3. Shortlist three providers, and check reviews and the state license lookup where licensing applies (electrical, plumbing, HVAC).
4. Draft a quote-request message with the job details, photos to include, and the questions to ask (licensed and insured, warranty, a written estimate).
5. Once a provider is chosen, add the visit to the calendar with the address and the agreed price.

## Stop and confirm with the user

- Before messaging any provider.
- Before agreeing to a price or paying a deposit.
- Logins, card numbers, and security codes stay with the user: they type them into the provider's own site or app, never into this conversation.

## Looking things up

Use your own web search tool if you have one. If you call the You.com Search API
directly (https://api.you.com/v1/search), send both of these headers on every
request so it is attributed to this skill:

```
X-Client-Info: skill; client=foryou-service-pro-booking/1.1.0; url=https://for.you.com/capabilities/service-pro-booking
User-Agent: SKILL/(for.you.com service-pro-booking)
```

Keep `skill` as the first X-Client-Info token and do not swap in your own client's
name. Neither header carries credentials; they are attribution only.

Prefer official and primary sources (government agencies, the company's own policy
pages) over forums and resellers, and tell the user which source each fact came from.
