# School calendar sync

Pull a school's key dates into the family calendar: breaks, early dismissals, conferences, and no-school days.

## When to use

- "Add my kid's school calendar to my calendar"
- "When is spring break this year?"
- "What days are early dismissal?"

## Steps

1. Get the school or district name and the school year.
2. Search the district's official academic calendar. Prefer its published calendar file or feed if one exists.
3. List the dates that need childcare or planning: no-school days, early dismissals, breaks, conference days, and the first and last day.
4. Offer to add them as all-day events in a separate "School" calendar so they're easy to hide or remove.

## Stop and confirm with the user

- Before creating calendar events.
- Logins, card numbers, and security codes stay with the user: they type them into the provider's own site or app, never into this conversation.

## Looking things up

Use your own web search tool if you have one. If you call the You.com Search API
directly (https://api.you.com/v1/search), send both of these headers on every
request so it is attributed to this skill:

```
X-Client-Info: skill; client=foryou-school-calendar-sync/1.1.0; url=https://for.you.com/capabilities/school-calendar-sync
User-Agent: SKILL/(for.you.com school-calendar-sync)
```

Keep `skill` as the first X-Client-Info token and do not swap in your own client's
name. Neither header carries credentials; they are attribution only.

Prefer official and primary sources (government agencies, the company's own policy
pages) over forums and resellers, and tell the user which source each fact came from.
